Image Info & Metadata Viewer
View comprehensive metadata about any image file. Shows dimensions, file size, MIME type, color depth, transparency detection, aspect ratio, megapixels, and last modified date. Copy all information to clipboard with one click.
How to inspect an image
- Drop your image onto the tool or click to browse. Any common format works.
- The tool reads the file header and metadata blocks, showing dimensions, format, size and EXIF fields.
- Scroll the metadata panel to check camera model, GPS coordinates, timestamps and colour profile details.
- Use the info to verify the image matches your delivery requirements, or to catch unwanted metadata before sharing.
Common use cases
- Verifying a client-delivered photo really is the resolution and format promised in the brief.
- Auditing images for privacy before publishing — spotting embedded GPS and camera serials.
- Debugging design-tool exports when a downstream workflow complains about colour profile or dimensions.
- Checking that a downloaded image has not been re-encoded by a platform that strips quality.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the tool show a different format than the file extension?
File extensions can lie — an image renamed to .jpg might actually be PNG internally. The tool reads the real file header, so the reported format is the truth regardless of the extension.
What does DPI mean?
DPI is a print-only hint. For screen use only pixel dimensions matter. If a tool insists on 300 DPI, change the metadata in an image editor without touching the pixels.
Why are there no EXIF fields on my image?
Many platforms strip EXIF on upload. If the image was re-encoded (for example, by Facebook or WhatsApp) the metadata is usually gone by the time it reaches you.
Is my image uploaded?
No. All parsing happens in your browser.
