Rotate Image Online

Rotate any image by any angle. Use quick presets for 90, 180, and 270 degree rotations, or use the custom slider for precise angles from 0 to 360 degrees. Live preview shows the result instantly.

How to rotate an image

  1. Drop your image onto the tool or click to browse. Any common raster format works.
  2. Click 90° CW, 90° CCW, or 180° to rotate in fixed steps. Use the free-rotation slider for any angle.
  3. Check the preview. Fixed-step rotations keep the full image; arbitrary angles produce a bounding box that fits the rotated pixels.
  4. Click Download to save the rotated copy. The original file is left untouched.

Common use cases

  • Fixing phone photos that come out sideways because the EXIF orientation tag was ignored by the target platform.
  • Rotating scanned documents that were fed into the scanner the wrong way up.
  • Tilting photos for artistic layout in social posts, newsletters and mood boards.
  • Correcting horizon lines in landscape photos by a few degrees before sharing.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my photo rotate even before I did anything?

Cameras embed an EXIF orientation tag that tells viewers to rotate on display. Some apps strip this tag and leave the pixels unrotated; this tool bakes the rotation into the pixels so every viewer shows the same orientation.

Is there quality loss when I rotate?

90/180/270-degree rotations are lossless — pixels just move. Arbitrary angles require resampling, which is slightly lossy; stick to the fixed buttons when possible.

What happens to the dimensions?

After 90° or 270° rotation, width and height swap. 180° keeps dimensions. Arbitrary angles produce a larger bounding box filled with transparent padding.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Rotation is applied on the Canvas in your browser. Nothing leaves the device.

About image rotation

Image rotation is essential for correcting orientation, creating creative effects, or fixing photos taken at awkward angles. The canvas-based rotation preserves image quality and handles the enlarged bounding box correctly for non-90-degree angles.
